Hey There! I’m Grace Turner Founder & CEO | Culinary Visionary | Home Cook Advocate | Team Leader | Age 34 Austin, Texas-based entrepreneur who believes that a great recipe is the foundation of a happy home.
My Story
I’m a former corporate strategist who traded boardrooms for cutting boards. My journey didn’t start in culinary school, but in my own chaotic kitchen after long workdays. I realized that for most people, cooking wasn’t a joy—it was a stressor caused by unreliable recipes and overwhelming instructions. I founded this company with a simple but ambitious goal: to build the most trusted food resource on the web. I wanted to create a place where clarity meets creativity, ensuring that anyone, regardless of skill level, can feel like a chef in their own home.
The Turning Point
Three years ago, I hosted a crucial dinner party and relied on a popular, viral recipe I found online. It was a disaster—undercooked, bland, and embarrassing. We ended up ordering pizza. That night, I realized the internet didn’t need more recipes; it needed better ones. It needed a standard of excellence. That failure sparked the “Ricipes Standard”—our commitment to triple-testing every single dish before it reaches your screen. That was the moment I stopped being just a food lover and became a food leader.
What I Learned the Hard Way
In the beginning, I tried to do everything myself—recipe development, photography, coding, and writing. I thought “founder” meant “solo expert.” I burnt out quickly, and the quality of the site suffered. I had to learn the hardest lesson of leadership: letting go. I realized that to build something truly great, I needed to surround myself with people more talented than me in their specific fields. Now, I trust Hannah with flavors and Lucas with visuals. My strength isn’t just cooking; it’s orchestrating a team of geniuses.
My Approach Now
My role isn’t about hovering over pots anymore; it’s about setting the vision. I ensure that our company culture prioritizes quality over trends. I spend my days analyzing what our community actually needs—quick weeknight wins, budget-friendly nutrition, or show-stopping centerpieces—and guiding the team to create solutions. I also focus heavily on sustainability and sourcing, pushing our brand to be responsible stewards of the food systems we rely on.
What I Believe
- Trust is our currency: If a recipe fails you, we’ve failed you. Reliability is everything.
- The kitchen is for everyone: Snobbery has no place here; good food is a universal right.
- Simplicity is sophisticated: You don’t need 50 ingredients to make a memorable meal.
- Failure is data: Every burnt dish teaches us something new.
- Leadership is service: My job is to serve my team so they can serve you.
How I Can Help You
I am the gatekeeper of quality at Ricipes. I listen to your feedback, read your emails, and steer the company in the direction that serves your life best. Whether it’s launching a new meal-planning app or redesigning our site for better accessibility, I work behind the scenes to make your cooking experience seamless. I also mentor aspiring food entrepreneurs, helping them turn their passion projects into sustainable businesses.
A Little More About Me
When I’m not reviewing quarterly goals or tasting test-kitchen experiments, I’m likely in my backyard garden trying to keep my tomato plants alive (it’s a struggle). I’m an avid collector of vintage ceramic bowls and I have a Golden Retriever named Cooper who is officially our Chief Crumb Inspector. My guilty pleasure? Watching high-drama reality TV while eating perfectly aged cheese. It’s all about balance.
Let’s Connect
I want to build what you need. If you have ideas for how we can make your kitchen life better, or just want to say hi, I’m always listening.
